Minorities in Technology

Minorities in Technology

About

The idea to create minorities in technology was developed in 2016 by three roommates in UGA's computer science program. They recognized the need for an organization that would both acknowledge and strengthen those in the computer science, management information systems, and engineering fields. Oftentimes, minorities are left out the loop when it comes to recruiting, professional development, and knowledge of specific opportunities. Our goal is to combat these challenges by providing an organization that helps students realize their potential and achieve the goals they once thought unattainable. We will do this by offering personal and professional development workshops, providing exposure to Fortune 500 companies and their internship/career opportunities, and by fostering a supportive and inclusive environment. Our goal is to put our members one step closer to achieving their career goals. On the other hand, we will be working closely with sponsor companies to combat the underrepresentation of minorities within the workforce by developing the world’s future leaders in technology and business.
